What can a 100 mile run do to help the deaf in Ghana? Without your help, nothing. My name is Jan Prenoveau, you may be acquainted with me or my husband Paul Prenoveau (President of PAC Group, LLC). I will be running my first 100 mile endurance run to raise awareness and donations for the deaf communities of Ghana, West Africa this October.
Deaf children in Ghana are often overlooked and left behind to struggle through life. Many are not given opportunity to attend school and looked upon as lesser individuals. As the deaf child grows, their future becomes bleaker; offering no hope to become more than a farm laborer. When I heard of an organization named Signs of Hope International and their work to bring hope to these children and their futures, my heart was touched and I became determined to help make a difference in their lives.
I desire to partner with you in making a difference in the lives of these kids. I hope to raise, at the minimum, $250 per mile I run. One donation of $250 will provide a child with an education including room and board (students are required to live at the schools), books, school uniform, and other supplies for an entire year. I would like to help as many children as possible attend these schools.
I feel my life, as well as each of us here in the United States, has been blessed with so much. Our quality of life is so different from these precious children in Ghana. Together we have the ability to make a tremendous impact in their future at this time. We have the ability to offer the deaf hope for a better tomorrow. We can show them they are not alone and they can become what they dream of.
I will begin my 'Run for Change' in Connecticut and finish in Rhode Island the first part of October. I am asking for your contribution of $250 for one mile, or as many miles as you can sponsor for this event. I have received pledges from a few corporate companies to match total contributions when I complete the 100 mile run. Your help is needed!
The film on Signs of Hope International's website (www.signsofhopeinternational.org) will explain more in depth the needs of these children. Thank you for taking the time to watch this film and making your tax-deductible contribution.
Hoping for a brighter tomorrow,
Jan Prenoveau
